“Dare to Delta”. It’s kind of a weird title, isn’t it? Let me explain.
The whole idea of “delta” basically came to me when I was at the beginning formations of a real, live, “put yourself out there” blog idea. I like writing – a total happy place for me. Give me a cup of coffee, a cookie and a laptop. I’m all set. I’ve done quite a bit of writing beginning in college preparing various Bible studies and devotionals to being a running coach and penning lots of advice on training and physical and mental health. So my collection is kind of all over the place.
3 categories of articles. How can I include those all together under one roof without it looking like my sock drawer?
Thus begins my inner monologue over a few days in hopes to name this site.
“okay, encompassing 3 categories of articles – body, mind and spirit. 3 sides – like a triangle. That could be a cool logo. Hmmm, what can I brand with a triangle? Or maybe a delta shape? You know, the Greek letter that is shaped like a triangle. If I use the word “delta” will that make me appear smarter? Wait, delta also means “change”. Yahtzee! My writing can easily focus on change with regards to the physical, mental and/or spiritual part of our beings. Yes – delta delta delta! No. That’s a sorority and a funny SNL skit.”
More days pass. Whatevs. More inner dialogue with limited ideas. Fine. It will come to me when it comes to me.
I mention this one afternoon to my creative writing teenager as she sits bored in the back seat because her phone has lost charge. “Mere, help me name my blog site. I want it to include the word ‘delta’ to represent 3 sides or categories and to reference delta meaning ‘change’.”
The 14 year old Cliff Claven spirit animal immediately and naturally spews off “Well Mom, actually the word delta is a piece of land that is formed by a river that breaks off into other rivers and flows out to the sea. You know, like what you want your blog to be with ideas coming together and flowing out to others.” Welllll, damn.
Delta: 3 sides.
Delta: change.
Delta: a place where a river intersects, splits to many rivers and empties to a huge body of water.
This is it peoples. Being okay with and open to change in all aspects of our lives and sharing our wackadoodle observations with others. Both change and sharing can be scary as hell so let’s armor up and be brave. Let’s dare each other.
Dare to Delta. There ya go . . .
